Empowering the Everyday Woman in Developing and Achieving Her Life Goals

Intern or Volunteer with us!

WIA Inc. is always looking for strong and committed interns and volunteers to help us run our programs! Please read carefully the following before reaching out:

1. We expect volunteers to work with us for a minimum of two months, and those who can commit for longer periods will be given priority. For interns, a three- to four-month period is typical.

2. Volunteers help us run the programs at our events, sat, such as the After-School Club or English classes, while interns provide more general administrative support, such as fundraising and social media.

3. There are three general windows for internships:

  • Fall: September – December, with applications accepted beginning July
  • Spring: January – May, with applications accepted beginning December
  • Summer: June – August, with applications accepted beginning April

Interns are expected to commit 15 to 25 hours a week. We are especially seeking interns with experience in grant-writing, social media management, photography, and data entry. We are more flexible with hours for volunteers (depending on what activities they are involved in) but they are expected to commit to the hours agreed upon with us.

4. We expect interns and volunteers to be fully committed to the hours that they agree to work with us. Constant tardiness and absenteeism lets the women and youth that we serve down and makes it difficult for us to run our programs, and you may be asked to leave if commitment becomes an issue.

5. We are unfortunately unable to provide a stipend or remuneration to interns and volunteers.

What we do provide:

1. Particularly for interns: professional development of skills that are broadly applicable across multiple sectors, such as fundraising and grant-writing.

2. A chance to lead and organize programs and activities with relative autonomy.
